A vastly experienced and successful coach and former ATP professional, Andy is recognised as one of Israel’s top trainers. Andy himself has competed in all four Grand Slams, beating the number one Israeli ATP ranked player at Wimbledon 1998. He was also Argentine singles and doubles national under-18 champion.
His career spans over 15 years, competing and coaching at the highest level of international tennis, including Israeli national teams, European 18 and under summer cups, and professional and junior players such as Harel Levy, Dudi Sela, Tzipi Obziler, Julia Glushko, Amir Weintraub, Tal Eros. In the USA, Andy coached the number one junior player in California, and top-5 USA ranked, Steven Forman and was the assistant coach at USIU University, in San Diego. Originally from Argentina, Andy coached the number one and number two ranking under-18 girls in the country.
Tzipi is one of the most famous and highly-decorated players in Israeli tennis history. A former top-75 world ranking professional, she now applies her invaluable expertise and experience to helping the development of promising David Squad members.
In the Federation Cup, Tzipi shares a world record for most ties played, at 61- with a 48-30 win ration. She was a key member of Israel’s famous Federation Cup team that won 10 ties in a row to reach the quarter finals in 2008.
Tzipi has won 13 singles and 13 doubles titles on the International Tennis Federation circuit, and competed at several grand slam and WTA events, reaching the final of the Guangzhou International Women’s Open. In 2004, Tzipi played world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne in the US Open, and in 2005 she won both the singles and doubles (with Shahar Pe’er) titles in Raanana, Israel.
Oded Jacob (Dedi)
Dedi is widely recognised as one of the most experienced and successful coaches in Israel. As Director of Tennis Canada and previously a founder Head-Coach of the David Squad, Dedi’s vision and advice remains a constant asset to the organisation. Prior to this he was Federation Cup Captain, Davis-Cup Captain, National Coaching Co-Coordinator as well an Olympic coach for the 2004 Israeli team competing in Athens.
Dedi has coached a fleet of top Israeli players such as Harel Levy, Shahar Peer, Tzipora Obziler and Anna Smashnova, as well as Shahar Peer, whom he coached to become winner at Roland Garros and third at the N.T.T World Cup.
As a player, Dedi competed in ITF & ATP professional events worldwide and was ranked as high as 450 in singles and 280 in doubles. He was amongst the top Israeli juniors with a ranking of 26 ITF world junior rankings and a member of the Israeli Davis Cup squad.
Eyal is a key asset of the David Squad, with a unique understanding of what David Squad players are experiencing. Having started playing tennis from the age of six in Raanana, Eyal progressed as a junior through many international tournaments. His experience provides a perfect empathy for the players he now coaches for the David Squad, often accompanying and mentoring them on international travels.
At 10 years old, Eyal was selected to train at the national centre in Ramat Hasharon, representing Israel and reaching a top-five ranking. Eyal’s talents were recognized globally and he went on to earn a full tennis scholarship to the College of Charleston in South Carolina, America—captaining the university’s team for two years.
Under Eyal’s leadership, Charleston went on to win its conference, the conference group tournament and play at the NCAA championship. Eyal has eight years coaching experience, working with the David Squad for the past four years ago, helping some of the top Israeli junior players of this generation.
Jan is evidence of what can be achieved through the hard-work and determination expected from the David Squad members. As a junior player, Jan worked his way into the top 10 in Israel at under-18 level. He was captain of the Israeli national under-12 team at the European Championships in 2011 (ch), stewarding the team to 7th place.
From 2005 he began coaching at Ra’anana tennis center, guiding several potential David Squad applicants and in 2009, one of his pupils was accepted into the David Squad’s elite programme.
Since joining the David Squad, Jan has helped guide its members towards the top of Israeli and international standards for their age-groups.
