Code of Ethics
The David Squad is not a charity for simply assisting young tennis players in Israel. It is specifically designed to identify the most gifted young potential future worldwide champions.
To be invited to join and maintain a place on the David Squad, all players and their parents must strictly follow its Code of Ethics and Conduct:
Play to Win
Winning is the object of playing any sport. Never set your mind to lose. If you are not playing to win you are cheating your opponent, the crowd, your coaches and most-of-all yourself.
Play Fair
Winning is worthless if a win is achieved unfairly or dishonestly. You must always play fair, even if you feel your opponent is not playing by the same token. Playing fair will win you respect.
Respect Yourself
Maintain the highest standards of fitness, health and education. Ensure punctuality and attendance are foremost in your commitment. Treat your body and mind as the special tools with which you are able to attain the successes crave.
Respect Others
Respect everyone involved with your sport: your opponent, your teammates, the referee, officials and the crowd, at all times.
Accept Defeat with Dignity
You cannot always win. While the David Squad strives to find and cultivate an Israeli world champion, you must accept any defeats graciously. Embrace the advice of your coaches, congratulate the winner, earn respect from your behavious and learn from experience.
Issues to Reject
Reject racism, treat everyone equally regardless of their gender, skin colour, religion or origin;
Reject any use of drugs, corruption, violence of any kind and other dangers to the beauty of Tennis. Help others and your teammates follow these guidelines.
Ensure a Positive Experience
Tennis is a sport. Strive, persevere, advance and make the game a positive experience to be enjoyed by everyone involved.
A Special Opportunity
Becoming a member of the David Squad family means joining an elite group of coaches and players. You have been given an opportunity, which should not be taken by you for granted. You may have been chosen over other candidates with potential. Respect the David Squad and strive to fulfill its goals. Be committed to the David Squad.
You are a Role Model
As a sport player in general and a Tennis player in particular you are a role model for others, especially young people. Be aware of your conduct on and off the court. You are watched and tested wherever you go and whatever you do, even on issues unrelated to sport. Do not serve as a bad example to others. Respect people. Be committed to your sport. Keep your integrity at all times.
