Struck by the distinct lack of clay court training facilities available in Israel, he swiftly sought to select eight of the best Israeli junior prospects at the time – amongst them were todays leading players – and funded a two week intensive training camp on the red clay in the south of Spain.
This small team, joined by their coaching staff, was the start of “The David Squad”. Since then, it has evolved into the top elite training programme in the region with a single focus: to produce international champion tennis players for Israel.
Since inception, the David Squad has grown to become one of the most highly-respected organisations in Junior tennis, having produced international champions – including Junior Grand Slam, Orange Bowl and 10k tournament winners – in every age category.
Our players, professional team and executive team is referred to as “the DS Family”– and we cherish our reputation for balancing intense professionalism with pastoral care and warmth.
As the only entirely self-funded, non-profit institution of its kind, the David Squad remains completely independent, apolitical and non-denominational, embracing all sectors of Israeli society.
